The Frisky Whisker

A hi-fi sound gallery, an art space, and Atlanta's only cat therapy lounge. We lost our space in 2025. We left the building, but we didn't leave the dream! We found a home for us and the cats! They are safe, together and cared for. Now follow us as we build the next chapter.

28 cats. +50,000 visitors. A place worth rebuilding.

What we are

Four experiences, one frequency

Sound, art, cats, and a cafe all live in one space. They overlap, and that is on purpose.

Whisker Lounge

Home to 28 resident cats - specifically recruited and raised together to be part of the most relaxing catxperience. Sit, sip, and let them decide whether you are worthy. Most days you will be.

Sound Gallery

Hi-fi listening on a system built to be taken seriously. Records, live sets, and the kind of quiet that lets you actually hear.

A wall of framed artwork above plants, lit amber

Art Space

Rotating shows, hands-on workshops, and walls that change with the season. Come for one thing, leave thinking about another.

Cafe Gadget

A Conscious Cafe & Botanical Bar. Plant-forward bites and low-proof pours. Order a CATpurrcino and mean it.

An ordinary Saturday

Inside

What it looked like in there

Cat yoga under green light. A record on at the right volume. Cats asleep on a floor while strangers talk quietly around them.

Our story

What happened, and where we are

We do not have a public address right now, but we are excited to find our next location! Here is why.

  1. Since 2017

We built something the world hasn't seen

A therapeutic cat lounge in the heart of Atlanta, and a truly healing experience. More than 50,000 people came through our doors. Young people, families, folks of every age. They came for the joy of spending time with our feline therapists or to experience our hi-fi sound system.

  2. July 2025

We had to close our doors

We lost our space at Underground Atlanta. We were forced to close suddenly, and found ourselves without a home or a plan. For a couple of weeks we could not believe what just happened and we were hoping every day to re-open our doors to the public.

  3. November 2025

    The eviction was finalized

Despite months of communication with the City to understand why our case was not moving forward, Underground Atlanta ultimately evicted us. In the end, all charges were dropped or dismissed, and we were not required to pay the outstanding rent that had accumulated while we were closed and unable to generate income.

  4. December 2025 to February 2026

    Three months in our garage

Cats moved into our garage while we were finding a new home for all of us. Our staff kept showing up unpaid. It was the hardest stretch we have been through.

  5. March 2026

    A real home again

We moved into a new home where all 28 cats live with us. They have room, light, and their own space back. They are safe, and they are together.

  6. Now

    Building it back

We are planning the next Frisky Whisker: the sound, the art, the cafe, and the cat lounge. A place where the cats can do their work again, for whoever wants to experience their wonder.

The Whisker Lounge

28 residents = 28 furry therapists

These 28 cats are not guests, they are family. We have raised and loved them for more than eight years, and today they live at home with us. Betty runs the place. Techno judges from above. Come say hello when we reopen, or keep up with their antics until then.

The Whisker Lounge Cat Research & Therapy Center is our 501(c)(3). It is the part of this that puts cats and people in a room together on purpose.

Why we do it

Sound, art, and animals are not separate pleasures. Put them in one room and something opens up in people. We watched it happen 50,000 times. That is the whole idea, and it is why we are building it back.

A busy afternoon in the lounge, cats and visitors spread across the whole room

What we are building back

Support the cats

Help us build it back

The hardest part is behind us and the cats are home, but 28 of them still eat, still see the vet, and still need care we put off during the move. Your support covers that, and it gets us closer to opening the doors again.

Don't miss the reopening

Be the first through the door

No spam, no noise. Just a note when we announce the new space, and a few cat photos to tide you over.
